Wipro to Roll Out Promotions and Salary Hikes for 80% of Workforce

The hikes and promotion is the company's way to acknowledge employees' hard work and resilience in the pandemic.

Wipro is set to offer 80% of the workforce to have a promotion in the next three months as a part of ‘employer intervention’ as the service company plans to continue hiring and has already taken about 20,000 new people in the last two quarters.

The increment will be in line of what was proposed last year: the company paid 100% variable pay to its employees in the second quarter.

Because 70% of the workforce in the US are locals, the H1B visa limitation imposed by the US government does not have a lot of impact on companies from a business perspective.

The company is now directing attention to giving increments to junior employees. In April, the companies stalled the increments because of the concerns brought by the pandemic button September they announce the intention to reward high performers. Under normal circumstances this increment would have been given in June.

Indian IT giant hi revealed a robust hiring plan for second half of the fiscal year and will come and the higher will comprise of freshers and lateral entries. The hiring will take place across India, Europe, and US with focus on artificial intelligence digitalization and internet of things.
