RBI Elevates Manoranjan Mishra To Executive Director

Mishra will be responsible for overseeing the enforcement department, risk monitoring department and department of external investments and operations


Manoranjan Mishra has been appointed as an executive director (ED) of the Reserve Bank of India, effective 1 November 2023.

Prior to being appointed to ED, Mishra was chief general manager in the Department of Regulation. According to a news statement from the central bank, Mishra's responsibilities as Executive Director will include oversight of the Enforcement Department, Risk Monitoring Department and Department of External Investments and Operations.

Mishra has an MBA (banking and finance) and a postgraduate degree in Economics. In addition, he holds a master's degree in finance and financial regulation from Aston Business School in the United Kingdom.

Mishra's Reserve Bank experience spans nearly three decades, with roles in bank and NBFC regulation, bank supervision and currency management. According to the RBI press release, he has been a member of many national and international Working Groups that have contributed to the establishment of regulatory/supervisory policies.
