Infosys To Hire 12,000 Locals in the US By 2022

Infosys plans to appoint 12,000 US workers, by 2022 and create a 25,000 strong employee base in the US, over the next five years. The IT major will focus on local hiring, all over.

Indian multinational Information Technology corporation, Infosys, plans to create a 25,000 strong employee base in the US, over the next five years. Thus said, it will appoint as much as 12,000 US workers, by 2022. The IT major will focus on local hiring, all over, to become an integral part of the local ecosystem.

In the last 3 years, the company has overachieved its target of hiring 10,000 local employees in a time of 2 years and created 13,000 jobs in the US. And now, Infosys commits to employ 12,000 workers across multiple roles, by 2022. 

The company has 78 per cent of its senior managers hired locally in the year 2002. Moreover, the company has opened six of its six major technology and innovation centres across Arizona, Rhode Island, Indiana, Connecticut, North Carolina and Texas, since 2017.

Due to the visa restrictions in the US, many Indian multinational companies have revived to hiring locals, to avoid the dependence on H-1B visa. 

Infosys targets to provide employment opportunities to both recent graduates and experienced professionals from prominent colleges and universities.  

The company will prepare its workforce, through its training and reskilling programs, it has in place as a part of the collaboration with its partners. The new Reskill and Restart initiative of the company will play a key role in local hiring. It also aims to employ people who have been deeply affected by the pandemic, even if they do not fulfil the required qualifications, like a four-year degree.
