Foxconn, one of Apple's largest suppliers, has planned to increase its workforce in India. The company's Indian representative issued a public statement through his LinkedIn account. On Sunday, V Lee, Foxconn's representative in India, made the news while wishing PM Modi a happy 73rd birthday. The Taiwanese iPhone manufacturer already employs 40,000 people at its Tamil Nadu plant.

Foxconn is currently the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer. India is one of the company's emerging markets, since it has swiftly expanded its manufacturing facilities in India's southern states. As the global geopolitical situation deteriorates, the corporation seeks to lessen its reliance on China.

V Lee in his LinkedIn post said, "Happy Birthday, Honourable PM. Under your leadership, Foxconn has grown smoothly and rapidly in India. We will work even harder to present you with a greater birthday gift next year, aiming for another doubling of employment, FDI, and business size in India."

Reuters reported late last year that Foxconn wants to hire 53,000 more workers over the next two years, bringing its total workforce in India to roughly 70,000.
