Female Candidates Face Higher Rate Of Personal Questioning By Male Interviewers: SHL Study

SHL Labs analyzed real interview conversations using Artificial Intelligence algorithms to uncover groundbreaking insights on Candidate Experience in Indian IT Job Interviews

SHL Labs, an innovation powerhouse of SHL, recently published a whitepaper titled, “State of Your Interview Experience Report (2022)”. In this whitepaper thousands of interviews were analyzed involving 100+ job profiles conducted across Indian IT software and services industry to measure how interviewing practice is performed. These interviews were analyzed using SHL’s proprietary conversational AI technology. Here is a sample of insights from the whitepaper,

42% of female candidates were asked at least one personal question whereas only 33% of male candidates were asked at least one personal question. The personal questions involved asking about marital status, children, siblings, and family information.

43% of male interviewers asked a personal question when the candidate was a female vs only 35% of male interviewers asked a personal question when the candidate was a male.

The lack of measurement and metrics for the interview experience is one of the primary bottlenecks in conducting effective job interviews. SHL Labs whitepaper and insights provide an accurate benchmarking of the interview experience and further, provide actionable recommendations to design inclusive interview experiences.
