Carl Zeiss India Appoints Santana Ramakrishnan As CHRO, India & SAARC

Ramakrishnan will be responsible for devising systems and processes with global corporate governance & standards and will collaborate with global teams and functions


ZEISS Group, a global technology pioneer of science in optics and optoelectronics, announces the appointment of Santana Ramakrishnan as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for India and Neighboring markets.

Ramakrishnan's appointment represents a pivotal moment in Carl Zeiss India's journey to further elevate its workforce, enhance its competitive edge, and advance technology excellence. She will further be responsible for devising systems and processes to meet people and business needs in line with global corporate governance & standards. She will also closely collaborate with the Global teams and functions to enable cohesive growth and transformation towards the company’s vision of ONE ZEISS.

She started her HR professional journey with GE Capital and credits much of her functional knowledge to the different stints within the organisation. Subsequently, with AXA she worked in key roles with the country businesses, Asia Regional Office, and Global HO, setting up and consolidating AXA’s people practices in new and existing markets. 

She has also worked with Goldman Sachs where she was responsible for building a robust global HR operations practice. Apart from two decades of experience working with multi-national corporations she has honed her skills within the Indian start-up ecosystem with stints in and DealShare. During the course of her career, she has worked across different departments in HR and across different geographies, with extensive stints in Asia and across client groups in Europe and Americas. 

She considers her most enjoyable assignments to be the ones that balanced people advisory with building HR ecosystems that scale to reinforce business priorities. She holds a Post Graduate Degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Stella Maris College, Chennai.
