Akasa Air ordered 72 Boeing 737 Max aeroplanes, 19 of which are already in service and the 20th aircraft will be inducted in April, after which it will be able to fly internationally

Akasa Air plans to employ nearly 1,000 people, bringing the total staff strength to more than 3,000 by the end of March 2024, as the airline continues to grow its fleet and routes, according to the CEO, Vinay Dube

The airline, which began operations a little more than seven months ago, also intends to begin foreign operations by the end of this year, with potential overseas destinations still being finalised.

Dube, the founder and CEO of Akasa Air said that the carrier will place a “three-digit aircraft order” by the end of this year.

It has ordered 72 Boeing 737 Max aeroplanes, 19 of which are already in service. The 20th aircraft will be inducted in April, after which it will be able to fly internationally.

The carrier plans to add 9 aircraft to its fleet in the coming fiscal year, bringing the total to 28. It currently runs 110 flights per day.

“We have more than 2,000 employees today, and by the end of the next fiscal, we will probably be around 3,000 plus employees... (There are) around 1,100 pilots and flight attendants,” Dube said earlier this week in an interview in New Delhi.
