KnowledgeHut upGrad, India’s leading technology skilling provider, in association with nonprofit enterprise Sambhav Kadam Foundation; has today announced that they have successfully trained almost 400 military veterans and enabled them to transition to corporate job roles in some of the biggest enterprises across the world. Through this unique engagement with the foundation, KnowledgeHut is empowering India’s military veterans to explore alternative employment opportunities and live an enviable lifestyle while making a major difference in their respective fields.

KnowledgeHut and Sambhav Kadam’s initiative has upskilled almost 400 candidates since inception of the program in 2021. Under the partnership, KnowledgeHut has provided Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) training to around 140 military veterans and Project Management Professional Certification to more than 220 veterans from across the various branches of the military. Due to KnowledgeHut’s comprehensive curriculum and insightful design, 100% of the veterans who have taken the course have successfully passed the relevant certification exam in the first attempt itself. These veterans can be found working in some of the biggest enterprises including Amazon, Deloitte and KPMG. Interestingly, KnowledgeHut also works with military veterans in USA to provide this high-end skilling in emerging technologies to enable their transition to civilian life. Knowledgehut leverages its strong industry partner network and in-depth knowledge of employers’ sentiment towards designing its outcome-based skilling programs as well as ensuring that they get the job that best fits the skills that the veterans acquire.

Sharing his views on the initiative, Mr Subramanyam Reddy, CEO, KnowledgeHut upGrad, said, “About 60,000 military personnel retire from the armed forces each year. Despite having rich on-field experience and management skills, along with unique skill sets like VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity; this cohort of veterans find many challenges while transitioning back to regular work profiles. To address this employability gap, we have partnered with Sambhav Kadam Foundation and created a unique program to equip veterans with the right skills sets and certifications that combined with their existing domain knowledge and experiences makes them invaluable to any organization.”

“We strongly believe that military veterans are an exceptional addition to the corporate workforce. Their sense of rigour, discipline, attention to detail and productivity adds a new dimension to the industry. Organizations are increasingly hiring from this community. In fact, over the last five years, the hiring of veterans has witnessed an explosive surge. Up-skilling initiatives like ours further augment the employability of veterans. We, at KnowledgeHut, are proud to be a part of this partnership with Sambhav Kadam and are aiming to train close around 600-800 veterans over the next three to five years”, said Mr Jasbir Chawdhary, Chief Delivery Officer, KnowledgeHut upGrad.

Speaking on the association with KnowledgeHut, Captain Vinay Singh, Managing Director and Chief Mentor at Sambhav Kadam Foundation said, “The usual military retirement plan has undergone major changes over the last couple of years. Many defense veterans nowadays retire at a young age comparatively and look for opportunities to secure a job in the corporate world. However, many of them face challenges as they find skill gaps. Our endeavor is to address this gap and we are delighted to partner with KnowledgeHut to create suitable learning programs for veterans."

The up-skilling programs range from 16 – 32 hours (four hours a day) each depending on the selected course. The course and curriculum are designed by KnowledgeHut and the veterans use the proprietary PRISM platform to get the most out of the training.

KnowledgeHut is planning to introduce more courses based on the demand from veterans. The brand also extends similar up-skilling programs to military veterans in United States of America.
