Winning Stroke: Interview With Ankush Khosla, COO, Home Credit India
Both luck and hard work plays a great role in life and works hand in hand for any outcome
If not in the current profession, you would be?
I would love to bring smiles on people’s face by making their stomach happy and healthy. Yeah, if not the current profession then maybe, I would have been seen running a successful restaurant somewhere.
One tune you always hum?
When in blues or in a good frame of mind, I always go for “If they say,
Who cares if one more light goes out?” from Linkin Park. Letting people know that you care for them, is something they need to know and realize at the earliest.
One book to read when you want to motivate yourself?
“The Warren Buffett Way” is the ideal one by Robert G. Hagstrom, I tend to go for whenever I’m in need of a push and some self-motivation to turn things around.
One dialogue of a movie that motivates you or you like the most?
A dialogue that has stuck with me is- “I feel the need …. the need for speed” in the movie Top Gun. No doubt, it would definitely hit anyone’s mind for the moment and aftermath
The place you never been to and always want to go?
Known as the land of Everest, Nepal of course... To behold the highest mountain on Earth, the Mount Everest.
An animal that signifies you & why?
Loyalty and being kind to all is of utmost importance. The most loving creature that signifies these traits is a Dog.
A Movie Character you most resemble or resonate with:
Marvel or DC: Always a big-time Marvel fan. “You can take away my suits, you can take away my home, but there’s one thing you can never take away from me: I AM IRON MAN.”
Batman or Superman: Batman – “Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves back up.”
Tom or Jerry: The most innocent and lovable series that I grew up with. Today, father and son watch together with the smartness for little Jerry dodging Tom each time to be a winner!.
Chacha Chaudhary or Super Commando Dhruv: The great Chacha Chaudhary kyunki Chacha Chaudhary ka dimag computer se bhi tez chalta hai.
If your life was to be turned into a movie who would you like to play your part?
There’s a saying “Nobody can play your role better than yourself” and that’s exactly what I believe in. Nobody but I, myself would love to play my part in my biography.
Luck or Hard Work, what do you think weighs more in defining a successful person?
It has to be both of them as we can’t conclude a thing by just focusing only at one side of the situation. Both luck and hard work plays a great role in life and works hand in hand for any outcome.
One best decision you ever made?
Everything happens for a reason and for a good reason I feel. Like, when I married my wife, I took the best decision of my life.
A strategy that you always use to take your decisions in Personal or Professional life?
Personal and professional life are two different aspects of our lives. Both need a different outlook and strategies while dealing with each. I approach a situation with a balanced view, consider all perspectives and eventually take a decision that is favourable to most (as per me). I am a good listener and that skill comes handy in decision making.
Whose advice do you seek when in a dilemma?
My Best Friend. He is my true asset. We have stood by each other through thick and thin and have each other's best interest at heart.
What has been your biggest achievement?
In life, there have been many achievements, but being a father, I feel, is the biggest achievement for me till now. It’s totally a different feeling. Only a father can relate to this.
One thing that you want to change in yourself?
I would like to be more patient. I need to work on developing more patience for any situation I go through.
A line said by your close one that you never forget?
Since fatherhood is my greatest achievement the words that will be with me through my life are 4 sweet words- “I LOVE YOU DAD”.
