Vahan, one of India’s largest blue and grey-collar worker recruitment platforms has partnered with Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) for the upskilling and aiding employment of young graduates. As part of the collaboration, Vahan will enroll 30,000 eligible students on its platform where they would be able to work upon their skills through exclusive access of the community including webinars on industry trends, insights, business leaders’ talks.

The corporate ‘MOU Exchange’ was held in the presence of notable guests Shri K T Rama Rao, Honorable Minister for IT E&C, Industries, MA & UD Telangana State and Dr Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary IT E&C Industry & Commerce, Govt. of Telangana, and Vice Chairman – TASK along with senior officials from Vahan’s management.

The two-year-long partnership is aimed at enhancing requisite skillset of the graduating students in the engineering field, thereby helping in focused and quick employability. The community inclusive pilot program by Vahan will maintain equal focus on women candidates and students from marginalized communities. To start with, Vahan is looking at placing 1000 active job seekers (aged between 18 to 29 years) as software developers & gig workers.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Madhav Krishna, Founder and CEO, Vahan, said “The blue-collar segment is an underserved market in India despite constituting the bulk of the workforce. Youth unemployment and under-employment is a massive concern in India. Our partnership with Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge will help create relevant employment opportunities for these students. We believe that this collaboration will help in fortifying job prospects for the students of Telangana”.

“The Consumer Pyramids survey conducted by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt. Ltd, (CMIE) conducted among rural and urban households in India showed that, graduates including those who went further in their education had the highest unemployment rate in India, with a share of 19.4 percent. These are alarming statistics, and we are confident that with the help of our platform, we can significantly reduce the unemployment rate among the educated population of our country”, Madhav Krishna added further.
