During the Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) Future Fluent Global Summit held today in the national capital, organised by Ask Insights and BW People, Alan Richter, CEO, QED Consulting talks about the ‘Global Diversity & Inclusion Benchmarking Tools’.

He explains ‘diversity’ as ‘the variety of differences and similarities/dimensions among people such as; age, caste, class, generation, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, language, race, religion etc.’. And ‘inclusion’ as ‘a dynamic state of operating in which diversity is leveraged to create a fair, healthy and high performing organisation & community’.

“Ultimate goal of diversity and inclusion is to create better world and to improve organisational performances”, said Richter.

Furthermore he talks about the five approaches to diversity and inclusion, listing them as Competence, Compliance, and Organisational Development, Dignity and Social Justice.

Explaining the approaches, he said, “Competence is improving skill, knowledge and ability, Compliance is complying with laws and regulations, Organisational Development is improving organisational performance, Dignity is affirming the value and interconnectedness of every person, and Social Justice is treating people equitably and ethically”.

He further showcased the GDIB Model which is further categorised in four groups, as shown below.


Richter expressed the ‘best practice’ of D&I is that which is embedded in the organisational culture and is not seen as an isolated program but rather as a core value, a source of innovation and, a means to growth and success.
