Significance Of Sensitisation When Pertaining To Equity And Equality

Recognising the tools of Diversity to achieve Inclusivity at the Workplace

?

Inclusivity means making room at the table. Inclusive leadership is emerging as a unique and critical capability helping organisations adapt to diverse customers, markets, ideas and talent. In the recent event on Diversity and Inclusion by BW People, in association with BW Businessworld, a session was discussed on the significance of sensitisation when pertaining to equity and equality.

This session found participation from Nikita Zutshi, Vice-President of Human Resources at MakeMyTrip India, Dr. Deepak Deshpande, Senior Director of Human Resources at NTT Ltd. and Ketan Kapoor, Associate Director at Rangam Consultants. The leadership concurred on the idea of having representatives within their organisation in order to develop a diversified talent pool.

For those working around a leader, such as a manager, direct report or peer, the single most important trait generating a sense of inclusiveness is a leader’s visible awareness of bias. To fully capitalize on their cognizance of bias, leaders also must express both humility and empathy.
