Recruiters face an adequate amount of pressure in hiring the candidates who are committed and can make an impact in their organisation. To highlight the expectations of recruiters, BW Education’s Future of Management Education Conclave hosted a panel discussion where eminent personnel from different organisations discussed the same in depth. The session, moderated by Soumya Sehgal of BW Businessworld, included Simin Aksari, VP – Corporate HR, DS Group; Manvi Sushil, Director HR - South Asia, Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials; and Manish Sharma, Director, PWC.

Talking about the required skill set in current times, Askari mentioned that it has not drastically changed due to the pandemic rather it is shifting. “With remote working and technology being used in every facet, the organisations have adapted to new ways of working. The expectations of employers from b-schools, from my perspective, is to get talent which is agile, adaptable and has skill sets of the future,” she said.

Adding to that, Manish Sharma said that the pandemic has brought a behavioural shift and earlier the focus was on hard skills.

The discussion further steered towards the need for change in curriculum to create a future-ready workforce. To which Manvi Sushil opined, “The three aspects that need to be aligned with b-school’s curriculum is emotional intelligence, diversity and relevance of teaching.”

Simin Askari further mentioned that the b-schools need to start teaching ‘decency quotient’ as it is equally important as emotional & intelligence quotient, and for people to respect each other’s views as well as to collaborate.

The panellists also talked about industry-academia collaborated efforts and specific skill-based programme to create a relevant workforce for the industry.
