OZiva Announces Permanent WFH For New Mothers

Aims to empower women to enjoy the best of both worlds - motherhood and career

On the occasion of Mother's Day, OZiva, India’s leading clean and plant based holistic wellness brand launched its new employee policy that aims to support new mothers. It provides a work from home option for mothers with children upto the age of 3 years. With this new addition, the brand hopes that new mothers can grow further in their careers while also spending time with their bundle of joy. 

Aarti Gill, Co-Founder, OZiva says " In our country women have found it difficult to grow in their careers. While gender disparity is changing slowly, one of the main concerns that I have heard from women is having to manage their babies while ensuring that they are able to meet their work commitments. Sometimes it’s due to the lack of support and at times it’s the stress of managing home with work. This in addition to the guilt and sadness of leaving their children home and physically going to the office makes it tough for women to keep working. And more often than not they end up choosing to take a break from their career after maternity leave. Almost 50% of our workforce are women and 58% of leadership positions are held by women. These are powerful and strong individuals who are building OZiva. With this policy, we hope that they don't have to choose between their career and family."

Various surveys and articles suggest that working mothers face difficulties returning to work post maternity break. From being discriminated against at work to finding it difficult to manage time, they are often subjected to high levels of stress and end up having to choose either career or the joys of motherhood. There is also a pay disparity amongst women to take a career break and join back the workforce. Adds Nirav Shah, Head HR, OZiva "Over the years I have seen many talented women quitting their jobs after becoming mothers. While for some this is a conscious choice, for many it is a lack of not having another option. With the permanent WFH option we hope to bring a positive change in this scenario and build an inclusive culture that provides equal opportunities to everyone."

  1. The new policy will be applicable to all full time employees of OZiva including those on probation.
