IKEA to hire 15,000 employees in India

IKEA deals in home furniture and has open the first store in Hyderabad. In 2018, the company has hired 950 employees directly and 1,500 employees indirectly and further plan to employee 15,000 employees in upcoming years.

Swedish based company IKEA is planning  to employ 15,000 people in India in upcoming years.

The company’s first store has been opened in Hyderbad, India.

IKEA deals in home furniture and has open the first store in Hyderabad. In 2018, the company has hired 950 employees directly and 1,500 employees indirectly and further plan to employee 15,000 employees in upcoming years.

IKEA Group CEO Jesper Brodin said the opening of the first store in India marks a milestone in the company's journey here which began over three decades ago through sourcing of products.
 
 “We have a long-term commitment to India, which is an important market for us.” The company CEO stated.

It’s their first store in India and they plan to build up 25 such stores by 2025. In 2013 IKEA  got the gesture from the government to set up their retail store with Rs 10,500 Cr.

The company’s plan was to open their store in 2017 but unfortunately got delayed. The company has invested Rs 4,500 Crore in different projects with India and Rs 1,000 Crore in the first store in Hyderabad with the range of 7,500 products. IKEA has opened up a big store with 13 acres of land and has a built-up area of 4 lakh sq ft.

IKEA has also decided to look into e-commerce business in India by next year as the company says that in India it would increase investments as it looks unproblematic and faster than any part of the world.

Also by next year IKEA will open its second store in Mumbai followed by Bangalore and Delhi. The retailer has also planned for four more cities but did not disclose their names.
