Brahm Vasudeva, the chairman of cookware manufacturer Hawkins, passed away on Friday at age 84, say media reports.

Vasudeva was appointed to the Hawkins Cookers board in 1968 as Vice Chairman and MD. In 1984, he became the whole time chairman and MD after HD Vasudeva, his father and founder of Hawkins, stepped down.  He retired as Chairman and CEO on April 25, 2006, and since then, he had been the non-executive chairman of the board of directors.

Gayatri Yadav, former Star India President Consumer Strategy & Innovation, is his daughter.

Vasudeva was also active in advertising and client industry bodies. He served as a board member of the Indian Society of Advertisers and was responsible for pioneering The Advertising Standards Council of India and Media Research Users Council India.

Hawkins went from strength to strength in the 52 years Vasudeva served with the company. May his soul rest in peace.
