"it is an unsolved question because we still can't define leadership. I can imagine that a cognitive test has an anticipation, and I think a part of leadership is anticipation.” says, Bas Van De Haterd

At the 3rd Higher Education & HR Conclave, the experts discussed Game based hiring the way forward in the recruitment space.

The expert panel included. Bas Van De Hatred, Strategic Recruitment Consultant, Author, Speaker, host- European Talent Acquisition Event (T-A Live)  Chris Cobb, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of London, Jayanti. J, HR Head, Deloitte Shashwati Sinha, HR HEAD, Cheil and Ankur Sethi, Co-founder (MODERATOR) (Corporate Shiksha).

The panel started by a little fireside session between  Taniya Tikoo, Assistant Editor, BW People and Mr. Bas Van De Hatred. Taniya begins the session by asking “What type of pressures does brain mapping assessment put on the candidate when the only assessment is brain mapping and no physical tests?” to which Mr. Bass answered that “People who know about this technology from a distance are skeptical at first about it, and how it works, but when we see the results, they are way better than the physical assessments or resume shortlisting. And you have to trust the technology while you're using it on someone who is going to be an asset. There are also game-based assessment tools which also helps me to get better talent and good quality hires. I want people who are future thinkers, and I will hire them for that. It helps me to asses my strengths and weaknesses.”

On taking the panel forward  Shashwati comments that “One hat does not fit all, it depends on what role and what requirement and what kind of hiring you are doing. So making it an interactive makes it better for both the employee and the employer. End of the day you just need the right talent for the right job.”

Jayanthi on considering the topic of discussion addressed the audience by stating ”What is the contest? What is to be tested, and what kind of talent is required. Everybody wants to be accurate. Using digital and manual together makes the best choice. If you just casualize the process, the candidates will show an enhanced performance which an employer wants to see.”

In an audience interactive session a question was asked to  Hatred related on hiring which said “How would you hire leadership roles?” to which Hatred answered “It is the unsolved question because we still can't define leadership. I can imagine that a cognitive test has an anticipation, and I think a part of leadership is anticipation.”

On throwing some light on technological evolutions one more question was asked from the audience interaction saying  “How do you reinvent humankind to future?” to which  Hatred replied “This is an aesthetic thing, you should never put someone in one slot forever. The things; Not fixed, its set. 2. Cognitive assessment is done with brain caps on, so you know their potential for growth, and it reinvents their talent, they up-skill, or if they just are comfortable with what they are right now and there is no scope of restructuring” which summed up the panel discussion.
