Logistics solution provider, Ecom Express, is preparing itself for an increase in workload in the upcoming festive season. It is expected to hire almost 30,000 people, from the metros as well as the tier 1 and tier 2 cities, to tackle the barrage of online orders it expects in the coming months.

The Company has witnessed a surge in online orders in the past few months, as customers resorted to ordering even their medicines and daily groceries online, amidst the pandemic. It had hired about 7,500 people to make the already 23,000 strong workforces stronger. Last month, its headcount had reached 30,500.

This is not the first time Ecom Express is going on a hiring spree to manage the festive season demand. In 2019, it had hired about 20,000 temporary workers to tackle the festive season rush, of which quite a few were given permanent roles.

There has been a surge in online orders, since the coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown, leading to growth in deliveries. This trend will only see a boost during festival sales. Therefore, the Company— which makes deliveries to even remote areas of the country — is keen to hire locals, especially freshers, who are well acquainted with the localities.

The new hires will be trained on social-distancing norms and customer interaction, to ensure safety, as reported by PTI.
