Women are often the subject of many myths and stereotypes, and more so in the workplace. While these misconceptions are seemingly benign, even amusing, the fact of the matter is, women are much more than one can fathom about them. With their sheer grit and perseverance, they have shattered the glass ceiling and proven their mettle. Here are some of the most common myths that the women are debunking everyday with their talent and leadership skills.

Myth: Women can't balance professional and personal lives

Reality: While family responsibilities slow down women's careers to some degree, it is by no means an obstacle against them managing senior roles in organisations. Several women with children have reached top positions in leading companies, and their success can be attributed to their ability to walk the tightrope effectively.

Myth: Women don't understand technology

Reality: In the jet-setting age, women are not only proficient with managing their communication gadgets but also advanced management softwares, operating systems and other technology that eases day-to-day functioning. They are also leaders in technology-driven professions such as software engineering, CAD, aeronautical sciences, and more.

Myth: Senior women are hostile to junior ones

Reality: A 'boss woman' is anything but tyrannical. By nature, women are nurtures and tend to take a more empathetic and compassionate approach towards their juniors. In fact, a lot of women in senior positions serve as mentors and "go-to" person for their juniors at work.

Myth: Women lack ambition

Reality: Women tend to take calculated risks, but that doesn't mean they are not ambitious. We are living in a more evolved era, where women get adequate support on the domestic front, which makes it further conducive to make choices that further them professionally.

Myth: Women cannot lead

Reality: Women naturally possess several qualities that make for sound leadership, including emotional intelligence, empathy, and the ability to multi-task. They also tend to be less prone to stress, because they are wired to be problem solvers.

It's a world where women are not afraid to take the lead, effectively juggle career and home and yet know how to prioritise themselves in their daily scheme of things. It's time the rest of the world saw them in a new light that shines bright.
