Delhi Skill And Entrepreneurship University To Train 100 EV Mechanics

The Delhi government has decided to train EV mechanics workforce as the demand of EV related workers is increasing in Delhi


The Delhi government is planning to provide comprehensive training to Electric Vehicle mechanics in order to produce green jobs in the city and also aims to make Delhi a training centre hub for the EV workforce. According to the reports, the lack of skilled Ev mechanics has been identified and Delhi needs 500 mechanics every year. As EVs are increasing as a popular and demanding transport mode, it is important to have skilled technicians and a workforce on board.

The EV mechanic training program will be offered in an integrated course for students of automobile engineering diploma at the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). The government said that 100 students will be trained every year in basic and advanced EV mechanic training programs and they will be provided internship apprenticeship opportunities after the program is successfully completed.

Vice-chairperson, Dialogue and Development of Delhi, Jasmine Shah said "The collaboration formalised is a result of eight months of research and due diligence of the EV ecosystem by DDC Delhi and WRI India. The analysis identified the lack of highly skilled EV mechanics as a potential skill gap.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between World Resources India (WRI), DSEU and Hero Electric Vehicle Ltd. The memorandum read that the EV mechanic program’s course structure will be designed by DSEU.
