CavinKare's CK Ranganathan Appointed As AIMA President

Mr CK Ranganathan, Chairman & Managing Director, CavinKare Pvt Ltd has taken over as the President of All India Management Association (AIMA) from Mr Harsh Pati Singhania, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, JK Paper Ltd. Mr Ranganathan will lead AIMA as President till the next National Management Convention in September 2022.

 

Dempo Group Chairman, Mr Shrinivas Dempo is the new Senior Vice President of AIMA and Mr Nikhil Sawhney, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Triveni Turbines Ltd, has joined the AIMA leadership team this year as its Vice President.

 

Outlining his priorities as AIMA President, Mr Ranganathan said that he would continue AIMA's digitalization and initiate measures to deliver AIMA's services to students, executives, enterprises and academics in the hybrid mode. "While AIMA has very successfully adopted and imbibed digital transformation, AIMA would strive to serve Indian management through both the digital and the physical channels," he said.

 

Under Mr Ranganathan's leadership, technology will drive AIMA's services and the new initiatives would include face recognition tools for admission and recruitment testing services and remotely proctored semester examination for education institutes. AIMA will develop IPR in digital education and testing. AIMA will build on its existing simulation services to teach management and test managers.

 

AIMA will continuously upgrade the curriculum and teaching methods of its own business school and offer digital innovation modules to both companies and other B-schools. On the peer learning side, AIMA will create new platforms for exchange of specialized knowledge.

 

Mr Ranganathan expressed optimism that the next 12 months would see a big upturn in the economic activity and he hoped that AIMA would be one of the catalysts.

 

Mr Ranganathan has built on the pioneering legacy of his pioneer father, Mr R Chinnikrishnan, who created a sachet revolution with Chik products. He has built CavinKare into an FMCG major with an extensive brand portfolio, which includes Chik, Garden, Nyle, Raaga Professional, Maa, Meera and Karthika. The company also operates chains of salons under the brands Green Trends and Limelite. A philanthropist, Mr Ranganathan is a co-founder of the Ability Foundation, which helps those with physical disabilities. He also promotes small enterprises through an award named after his father.

 

The new AIMA Senior Vice President, Mr Shrinivas Dempo is the Chairman of Dempo Group, which is synonymous with Goa industry, sports and culture. Dempo Group's businesses include shipbuilding, food processing, real estate, media and petroleum coke. He is patron of football and he is the President of Dempo Sports Club. He is also on the Executive Council of Goa University. Mr Dempo continues his family's engagement with Goan society through the Dempo Charities Trust and Vasantrao Dempo Education & Research Foundation.

Mr Nikhil Sawhney has joined AIMA's leadership team as the Vice President. Earlier, he was the treasurer. Mr Sawhney is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Triveni Turbines Ltd and a Director of Triveni Engineering Ltd. The Triveni Group is a major player in the sugar, alcohol, renewable energy, turbines and water treatment industries. He is a member of many bilateral CEO forums.

P Dwarkanath, Former Chairman, GSK Consumer Healthcare Ltd has rejoined AIMA leadership team as Treasurer. A veteran of GSK group, he has held board and advisory positions in many of the GSK companies in India. He has also held seniors positions in the Max Group and the Shriram Group. A doyen of HR in India, he has been a President of the National Human Resources Development Network.

AIMA Director General, Ms Rekha Sethi, welcomed the new office bearers and assured that AIMA will continue to innovate to fulfil its mandate of building India's management capacity.
