The Global Diversity and Inclusion Summit 2018 hosted by Ask Insights and BW Businessworld talked about business sense to hire people with disabilities. The summit brought together some of the most recognized people including Akansha Arora(Director HR, Yum Foods), Anil Jain (HOD, P.K Sethi Rehabilitation Center, SDM Hospital, Jaipur), Madhu Sharma (Concentrix). The panel was moderated by Nipun Malhotra (Co-founder and CEO, Nipman Foundation).

Dr. Niru Kumar, having combatted the challenges of physical disabilities herself,
delivers powerful messages both to people with disabilities and to the rest of the
organization.

Akanksha Arora expressed that at KFC they aim at creating an equal opportunity workplace for disabled people. The success of our specially abled restaurant programs is driven by a 360 approach to developing especially – abled team members with a focus on hiring, training, creating an enabling work environment with tailored equipment, engaging the team members and assisting their development for growth and career progression.

Madhu Sharma is inspiring people with her strong desire to work and overcome her disability. For Concentrix, hiring and training of people with disabilities is a key focus area. She delivered a message for every individual that “Never hesitate in approaching a person with a disability, they're not different from you. Each one of us has some kind of disability in us. And not being able to welcome the differences in itself is a disability. The gap can be bridged only if each one of us can be ourselves, be at ease with a difference. I would also request you to please encourage anyone who you know has a child with the disability, is sitting at home because of lack of awareness, to start studying and make a bright future.”

Anil Jain added that his foundation provides care and treatment to underprivileged differently-abled people at minimum cost. He is working for the betterment of society and people. He believes that his small change can make a big difference in the world.

From the session ,  it can be concluded that workers with disabilities have long been an untapped source of talent, and are expected to play an increasingly vital role in the workplace in the years to come.
