BML Munjal University Appoints Maneek Kumar As Dean - School Of Engineering & Technology

Maneek has led the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Thapar Institute for 6 years and was recently serving as the Dean of Student Affairs, since 2014.

BML Munjal University (BMU), a Hero Group initiative, today announced the appointment of Prof. Maneek Kumar as the Dean of School of Engineering and Technology. Prior to this, he has served as Professor & Dean of Students Affairs at Thapar Institute Of Engineering & Technology and was the youngest to hold the post of Professor of Civil Engineering at the Institute, at the age of 34 years. Prof Kumar is a seasoned academician, researcher and academic administrator with experience of more than 27 years. He has taught courses on Mechanics and Strength of Materials to all disciplines of engineering at the Thapar Institute .

Maneek has earned his UG, PG and Ph D degrees in Civil Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. His Ph D research was on Reliability-based design of structural elements. His major research interests include reliability based design, retrofitting and rehabilitation, and Ultra High Performance Concrete. He works on Probabilistic and reliability models, neuro-computing and optimization techniques. He has published more than 80 research papers in National and International Peer reviewed journals and conferences and has guided 65 M. E. and 14 Ph D Thesis. He has also completed several Sponsored Research and Industrial consultancy projects with an outlay of more than Rs 2.5 crore.

Also, Maneek has led the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Thapar Institute for 6 years and was recently serving as the Dean of Student Affairs, since 2014. At this position, he has brought in several reforms for enhanced student experience and satisfaction, better student living, and increased student co-curricular activities and participation. He has served as the Professor in Charge of Alumni Relations and has established strong networks with one of the oldest alumni base in the country. He also has led the institute towards NAAC, NBA and ABET accreditations and NIRF rankings. He is the life member of many professional societies and associations like ICI, ISTE, ASCE (India), MSI, PMA etc., and serves on various committees of NAAC, NBA and AICTE in the country.
