Amit Malik appointed as CEO and MD, Aviva India

Amit succeeds Trevor Bull who stepped down on 31stDecember 2020 from Aviva India as planned, after a six year successful tenure as MD & CEO at Aviva India and returned to work for Aviva in the UK.


Amit Malik is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Aviva India. Amit is a seasoned leader with a rich experience of over 22 years in leadership roles across organizations, such as Bank of America, Royal Bank of Scotland, American Express and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare in geographies such as India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, Malik has been announced as CEO and MD, Aviva India with effect from 1st Jan 2021. 

 Amit has been part of the Aviva Team since December 2012, when he had joined as People Director, and over the years expanded his portfolio to lead critical functions such as Operations and Customer Service. He has been part of strategic initiatives in India as well as the Aviva Group.

Further Malik claims that, “I am delighted to embark on a next step in my journey at Aviva India as the CEO & MD. The role brings immense honor and responsibility. I am thankful to the Board, and the shareholders for the faith shown in me.  It will be my endeavor to grow and strengthen our distribution, maintain our focus on customers, and continue being an employer of choice.  Moreover, India’s life insurance landscape has gone through several evolutions, all at once. I also hope to contribute meaningfully to make life insurance more inclusive and ensure that we work towards increasing financial literacy in India.” 

Amit has a Bachelor of Engineering degree and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. He is an Alumnus of School of Industrial and Labour Relations, Cornell University and Said Business School, Oxford University.
