Accelerate Indian Philanthropy announces Amitabh Jaipuria as CEO

Amitabh has moved to philanthropy on a full-time basis and brings his experience to the philanthropic and non-profit sector

Accelerate Indian Philanthropy (AIP) has announced the appointment of Mr Amitabh Jaipuria as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With over three decades of experience, Amitabh will help build out AIP as a vibrant network of philanthropists by philanthropists.

In addition to his vast corporate experience of over 34 years and decades of leadership experience, Amitabh has had an abiding interest in philanthropy and for the past few years has been an active member of the Social Venture Partners (SVP) and has been a part of their Grant making team in Mumbai as well. Now Amitabh has moved to philanthropy on a full-time basis and brings his experience to the philanthropic and non-profit sector. He will drive AIP's strategic vision to see philanthropy impact India’s transformation and its mission to build a vibrant network by and for philanthropists to inspire, influence and inspire strategic giving.

Speaking on his appointment, Amitabh said, "I am delighted at this opportunity to help build an institution such as AIP. India has witnessed unprecedented wealth creation and we believe that - Philanthropy can make a difference; that Philanthropists want to make a difference and finally that Philanthropists are the best placed to inspire other Philanthropists. At such a juncture, I see my new role as an opportunity to help nurture a culture of strategic, informed giving in India and hope to build AIP to deliver on its aim of getting wealthy individuals to give more, give sooner and give better. I look forward to working with other stakeholders in the ecosystem and help build AIP’s capabilities and network of philanthropists”

Amitabh has held several leadership positions in prominent companies like UDS, Quess Corp., Reliance Jio, Monsanto, PepsiCo, GE, and Blow Plast. His last position was as the Group CEO and then Executive director of UDS, where he continues to be on their Board in a non-executive capacity. He comes armed with experience in diverse organisational cultures as well as stages in the business cycle - from start-up to stabilization, steady state as well as hyper-growth and M&A-led integration.

As the new CEO of AIP, he aims to create a variety of opportunities and platforms for philanthropists to engage meaningfully with fellow philanthropists and support them with a broad spectrum of inputs throughout their philanthropic journey spanning across Purpose, Perspective, Portfolio, Process and Performance. Through this, AIP and Amitabh aim to facilitate upwards of ₹10,000 crores in catalytic philanthropic activity by 2030.
